Two people were injured in separate acid attacks in East London in incidents less than a mile apart.
One woman was left with “life-changing” burns to her leg and face after she was sprayed with a noxious substance confirmed to be a strong acid solution in Marsh Wall, near South Quay DLR station.
The 26-year-old ran to nearby Westferry Road, where police and ambulance services attended, taking her to hospital following the attack just before 7pm on Wednesday 27 December.
Met Police officers are reviewing CCTV among a number of leads to identify the suspect, who was not seen by the victim.
A second attack occurred 90 minutes later less than a mile away at Crossharbour DLR station, which is being investigated by the British Transport Police.
The victim was treated in hospital and has since been discharged. The suspects, described as white males aged between 20-22, are believed to have got out a Volkswagen car, before attacking the man.
One was dressed in a grey hooded top with a baseball cap while the other was wearing a blue jacket and had a short beard.
A police spokesman said the forces were liaising, adding: “At this stage there is no evidence to suggest that these two incidents are linked but enquiries are ongoing.”
No arrests have been made in either incident.
