
THE DECISION to vaccinate children between the age of 12 and 15 has been largely fraught. After months of weighing up the risks and benefits of vaccinating children, however, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation has recommended children receive a first dose of the jab, starting next week. Some scientists are arguing heavily against the decision, on the grounds that children would build better immunity through natural infection.
