LONG-RUNNING series Casualty began back in September 1986, with various characters coming and going along the way. One of the original characters, who has appeared in the drama series since its inception is Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson. As the only remaining member of the original cast, Thompson's character has been a part of the most memorable storylines. But the actor's most challenging moment was off-screen, when he was diagnosed with dystonia.
